Drive Only on Weekends
If there is one thing that Kuala Lumpur is well known for, it is the road traffic congestion. I stay in Shah Alam so I commute to work in KL with the LRT to avoid rush hour traffic. For that reason, I only drive my car on the weekend. But what about my car insurance?
To spend money on car insurance might seem like a waste, especially since I do not drive much. However, whether I drive or not, my car still needs to be insured. So, how do you think I solved this issue?
Earlier this year, I found this new car insurance called PrOmilej by Pacific & Orient Insurance.
With PrOmilej, I got the same coverage as I would get with my Comprehensive Private Car Insurance but at a CHEAPER premium. I found out that PrOmilej worked based on the estimated distance that I drive over a year, and it brought me 20% of savings from my insurance premium!
Here are 3 PrOmilej plans that I could choose from:
- Plan 1: Save up to 40% if you drive less than 5,000km per year.
- Plan 2: Save up to 20% if you drive less than 10,000km per year.
- Plan 3: Save up to 10% if you drive less than 15,000km per year.
As I estimate that I usually drive around 4500 km per year, I found Plan 1 to be the most suitable one for me.
Here’s how much I saved from PrOmilej:
As I drive a Toyota Camry, I usually pay RM1,295 for my car insurance each year. With PrOmilej Plan 1, I was able to get RM518 in savings by only paying a premium of RM777 (Thank you P&O for contributing towards my MyClinic facial treatment package!)

Here are 3 easy steps that helped me get PrOmilej :
- I got all my information on PrOmilej at their website here : https://www.poi2u.com/car-insurance/promilej
- Before I bought PrOmilej, I browsed the different savings comparison between the PrOmilej plan and my comprehensive plan using this tool : Premium Estimator
- After I was convinced, I downloaded the POI2U app on App Store to buy PrOmilej. However, you can also get PrOmilej directly at their website here : Get Quote/Buy Now
